Most people have hundreds of euros worth of unworn clothing sitting in their wardrobe. Vinted is the fastest and most fee-free way to convert that into cash. Here's how to do it efficiently, from the sort to the last shipment.
Step 1: Sort Before You List
Don't list item by item as you go through your wardrobe — batch the whole process. Sort your wardrobe into three piles:
- Definitely selling: Not worn in 12+ months, not sentimental, still in sellable condition.
- Maybe: Set these aside and revisit after listing the definites. Often you'll have more clarity once you see what sells.
- Keep: Everything you actively wear or genuinely intend to.
Be honest about the "maybe" pile. The most common seller regret is keeping things that continue to sit unworn. If you haven't worn it in a year, you probably won't start now.
Step 2: Photograph Everything in One Session
Set aside two to three hours and photograph your entire "definitely selling" pile in one session. This is far more efficient than photographing each item before listing it individually over weeks. Use a consistent setup — same wall, same lighting — so all your listings look cohesive.
For tips on getting the best photos, see our photography guide.
Step 3: Research Prices Before Listing
For each item, take 60 seconds to check what similar items have sold for on Vinted. Search the brand and garment type, look for recent buyer reviews (proxy for sold items), and note the price range. Price 5–10% below the lowest similar sold price if you want to sell quickly; at market rate if you're not in a rush.
Don't price based on what you paid for it — what you paid is irrelevant to the current market. What matters is what buyers are paying today. For more detail, see our pricing strategy guide.
Step 4: Write Listings That Answer Questions
Most buyers message sellers to ask things that should have been in the listing. Eliminate those messages by pre-answering:
- Brand, size, and measurements (especially if sizing is unusual)
- Fabric composition (if premium or unusual)
- Any flaws, clearly described and photographed
- How long you've owned it and how much it's been worn
- Whether you'll bundle with other items from your profile
A complete listing converts better and generates fewer time-wasting questions.
Step 5: Shipping Setup
Before your first sale, decide on your shipping method and set it up in advance. Vinted integrates with multiple carriers depending on your country — select your preferred carrier in settings, and have a supply of appropriate-sized packaging ready.
Pack items neatly — presentation when the package arrives affects the buyer's review. A t-shirt folded in tissue paper in a poly mailer feels significantly more premium than the same t-shirt crumpled into a padded envelope. Small effort, measurable impact on reviews.
Step 6: Keep the Momentum
The first clearout is usually the hardest. Once you've listed and sold your initial batch, revisit the "maybe" pile — and start looking at your wardrobe differently. Items you've worn twice this year but could replace cheaply second-hand are candidates to sell and re-source at better quality.
Regular Vinted sellers develop a buying eye: they spot what's undervalued and what has resale potential. Our full reselling guide covers this in detail for those who want to go beyond occasional clearouts.
For Buyers Using Vinted
Every well-photographed clearout is an opportunity for buyers who know what to look for. Clearout sellers often don't know the market value of what they're selling — and the best items move quickly.
