Vinted isn't the first platform people think of for sneaker reselling — StockX, GOAT, and Grailed dominate that conversation. But for specific categories of sneakers, Vinted offers advantages those platforms don't: zero seller fees, a large casual buyer base, and European reach without the shipping complexity of US-based platforms.

Where Vinted Wins for Sneakers

Used/Worn Pairs

StockX and GOAT are primarily for DS (deadstock) or near-new sneakers. Vinted is the natural home for used pairs — buyers here explicitly expect and accept wear. This opens up a sourcing channel (worn pairs from the general market) that dedicated sneaker platforms can't access efficiently.

European Exclusives

Many European-exclusive colourways and collaborations never officially appear on US platforms. Vinted's European user base makes it the best destination for these pieces — the buyer and seller are both more likely to be in the same country, simplifying shipping.

Vintage/Archive Silhouettes

Older Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Reebok deadstock from the 80s–2000s has a strong buyer base on Vinted. Sellers with boxes of old stock from defunct shoe shops or personal storage are common — and they often don't know current market values.

Best Categories for Vinted Sneaker Reselling

New Balance 990 / 993 / 2002R

New Balance's "dad shoe" aesthetic has been dominant for several seasons. The 990 series (Made in USA) commands strong premiums. On Vinted:

  • Used 990v5 in good condition: buy €60–90, sell €130–180
  • 2002R collabs (Stray Rats, Salehe Bembury, etc.): buy €80–120, sell €200–400 for popular pairs

Jordan 1 (Non-Hype Colourways)

The Jordan 1 has consistent demand but hype pairs (Chicago, Bred, Shadow) are expensive to source. The opportunity is in non-hype colourways that are nevertheless well-made and desirable — University Blue, Electro Orange, and similar. Lower entry cost, narrower margin, but more inventory availability.

Vintage Running Shoes (1980s–2000s)

Nike Airmax 95, 97, TN, and similar "Euro-spec" colourways with original box. Collector demand is sustained. A deadstock pair of Air Max 95s from 1995 in wearable condition can fetch €300–600 from the right buyer.

Condition Grading for Sneakers

Sneaker buyers use specific condition vocabulary. Use it correctly in your listings:

  • DS (Deadstock): Brand new, never worn, original box and accessories
  • VNDS (Very Near Deadstock): Tried on only, no sole wear
  • 9/10: Worn 1–3 times, no visible sole wear, no creasing
  • 8/10: Light wear, minimal creasing, some sole yellowing beginning
  • 7/10: Regular wear, visible creases, some sole dirt, still presentable

Always photograph the sole, the toe box, the side profile, and any flaws specifically. Buyers who receive shoes in worse condition than described leave negative reviews — be accurate.

Authentication

Fake sneakers are widespread on Vinted. For any pair over €80, request the box and barcode (should match the shoe size and colourway). For high-value Jordan 1s and Yeezys, use the CheckCheck or Legitcheck apps — send the seller-provided photos through them before committing to purchase.

Monitoring for Sneaker Deals

Underpriced sneakers disappear in minutes. A DS pair of New Balance 2002R at €55 won't survive long with thousands of Vinted users searching. Vinted Monitor runs your sneaker searches in real time, alerting you immediately on new listings so you can buy before the deal is gone. See plans →
