Winter jackets are Vinted's biggest seasonal opportunity. September through November sees a surge in buyer demand as temperatures drop — and sellers who sourced jackets cheaply during spring and summer can command full seasonal prices. Here's the brand-by-brand breakdown.
Tier 1: Premium Technical (Highest Margins)
Canada Goose
The Expedition Parka and Chilliwack Bomber are perpetually in demand. Authentication is non-trivial — fakes are sophisticated and plentiful. Key checks: the fur ruff tag (must say "Coyote Fur"), the badge stitching (12 stitches per side minimum on genuine pieces), and the serial number inside the pocket. Genuine pieces bought at €150–250 resell for €350–600.
Moncler
Moncler has shifted toward fashion from technical — the current Gamme Bleu and Genius collections carry the highest premiums. The logo badge (sewn-on patch, not embroidered) and the French tricolour flag detail inside are key authentication points. Buy at €100–200, resell at €250–500+.
Arc'teryx
Covered in detail in our Arc'teryx guide — one of the best technical jacket categories on Vinted with strong autumn demand peaks. Margins of €150–300 per jacket are achievable for correctly sourced pieces.
Tier 2: Strong Demand, More Accessible
The North Face
The 700-fill and 1996 Retro Nuptse jackets are the key resale targets. The original Nuptse (1996 retro) consistently resells 40–60% above the price it appears on Vinted from sellers unaware of its value. The Denali fleece is a volume play — fast to source and sell, modest margins.
Patagonia
The Down Sweater, Nano Puff, and Synchilla ranges have robust secondhand demand driven by Patagonia's sustainability reputation. "Worn Wear" condition items sell well because buyers explicitly expect and accept wear. Bought at €40–70, sold for €90–140 for popular colourways.
Stone Island / CP Company
Covered in detail in respective guides. Both brands have exceptional winter jacket resale markets with sustained year-round demand.
Tier 3: Volume Play (High Turnover, Lower Margins)
Superdry
Large buyer base, very fast turnover. Margins are thin (€10–25 per item) but velocity is high. Works well for volume resellers with efficient systems.
Berghaus
Popular in UK and Northern European markets. The Gore-Tex and Hydroshell shells have consistent demand. Mid-tier margins (€20–40 per item) but reliable sales.
Condition Assessment for Winter Jackets
Key condition factors that affect price:
- Down fill power: If the jacket feels flat, the down has clumped or degraded. A professional re-down service costs €40–80 — only worthwhile for high-value pieces.
- DWR (water repellency): The durable water repellent coating on outer shells degrades with washing. Buyers know this — describe it accurately. DWR can be restored with tumble drying or specialist spray (Nikwax TX.Direct).
- Seam tape: On waterproof jackets, check that the seam tape hasn't started peeling. Peeling tape is hard to repair and drops value significantly.
- Shell fabric: Look for snags, abrasion marks at cuffs and collar, and pilling. These are condition markers buyers specifically check.
Seasonal Timing
The single most impactful pricing lever for winter jackets is timing. List in September — not November. By November, casual sellers have flooded the market with their wardrobe clearouts and prices compress. September buyers are motivated, supply is lower, and you get first-mover advantage on seasonal demand.
If you're sourcing winter jackets to resell, Vinted Monitor running during spring and summer — when sellers clear storage — lets you buy at off-season prices and sell at peak-season rates. That timing spread alone often doubles the effective margin.
